How often do automated rules run?

A look at how frequently your active rules will run in TrustAds

How quickly your rules run in TrustAds depends on your subscription level.

Starter or Agency Classic Plans

Rules will run every 30 minutes, 24/7.

Pro, Elite, Agency Premier or Agency Maestro Plans

Rules will run every 15 minutes, 24/7.

What if I don't want my rules to run that often?

You can control how often your rules run using the Frequency feature, and when they run using the Custom Scheduling feature.

There are also certain actions that have specific frequency limits, and allow you to choose how frequently an action is carried out on the same ad set.

If you don't want certain rules to run at the default frequency (15 or 30 mins depending on your plan) then you can choose your own rule frequency in the rule creator.

You can set your rule frequency to a specific number of minutes, hours, days, weeks, months or even years!

Custom Scheduling

If you're using the Custom Schedule feature on your rules, you can control:

  • Which days your rules run on
  • What time of day your rules run between

Your rules will then run at the standard interval between those times - every 15 or 30 minutes depending on your plan - or at the interval you set in the Frequency settings.

Start and End Dates

If you set a Start Date, your rules will only run (according to your frequency/schedule settings) from that date onwards, continuously (unless you've set an end date or run count limit).

If you set an End Date, your rules will stop running on this date.

Run Count Limit

If you set a run count limit, your rules will run according to your chosen frequency/schedule settings, and will stop running as soon as they have run the number of times specified.

Bid change, budget change or duplication

If you're running a rule that's taking any of the above actions, there's a limit on how often the action can take place on the same ad set.

Whilst your rules will continue to run at their usual frequency they cannot make budget or duplication changes to the same ad set more than every 4 hours. Bid changes on the same ad set can not be made more than every 1 hour.

Repeated action on same ad set example:

If you're on a Pro plan, running a rule to increase the bid of your best performing ad sets, the rule will run every 15 minutes, checking for ad sets that fit your criteria. (The metrics you're using to trigger the action).

When the rule runs, if it finds any ad sets that fit your criteria, it will increase the bid by the amount or % you specified.

When the rule runs again in 15 minutes, it won't increase the bid again for those same ad sets. It won't be able to change those ad sets again for a minimum of 1 hour.

This is due to the Facebook and Snapchat APIs, which don't allow for any more frequent changes to an ad set's bid (1 hour), budget (4 hours) or duplication (4 hours).

N.B. It's also best practice not to make too many big changes to bid or budget, in case your ad set resets back to its 'learning phase'.

You control the frequency for bid, budget and duplication

Whilst the minimum time frame for a repeated change to the same ad set (bid, budget or duplication) is 1-4 hours, TrustAds gives you the option to control this frequency of change beyond that.

When you choose the bid change, budget change or duplication actions in the rule creator, you are presented with an additional dropdown.

Frequency of Change

Here you can control how many times your rule can carry out your desired action on the same ad set. There a multiple options to choose from, with a minimum of once every 1-4 hours (depending on action) and maximum of once every 4 weeks.

In the example below, the rule will duplicate eligible ad sets 20 times - at an action frequency of 3 days.

N.B. Action will only be carried out after your chosen interval if the ad set still fits your criteria.
